THE VEHICLE

When you travel with The African Touch you'll see, do and experience more because you'll travel overland style in a specially-designed truck that carries up to 18 people and enough fuel, water, and food to enable travel for several days off the beaten track. This is the safest, most socialable and cost effective method of transport in areas where public transport, roads, security and finding accommodation can be difficult.

CAMPING

The holiday is primarily a camping experience as sleeping under the African night sky is a special part of the African adventure. The option to upgrade to the equivalent of a lodge or motel will be available on all but nine nights which will be spent in tourist accommodation. The majority of the campsites are well-equipped with power, water and security.

Karoma and Tasha are responsible for the day to day running of the tour, they will keep you informed on a daily basis of all requirements, activities and facilities as you travel. Along the way, you’ll shop at markets where you’ll mix with locals and have the opportunity to your hand at bartering the African way. The cook and helper will be there to assist you as well as helping out with the setting up of camp.

FOOD

Three meals a day are provided whilst camping. Cooking is done over a campfire or gas cooker by the cook and helper. Many are surprised at the quality of food prepared and the generous helpings. Hygiene is very important and strict routines are followed to keep you healthy and happy. Special diets can be catered for – let African Touch know about your dietary requirements in advance.
